Excitement!

I got my acceptance letter from Widener University. I am so unbelievably happy. I’ve been working toward this for a long time. I realize that it wasn’t our first choice in terms of geography, and the program isn’t exactly what I want to do as a career, but this is a step up. This is an open door to bigger and better things.
The best part is that Ben is excited, too. I thought that he would keep his original mindset and be totally against the whole thing. He is actually very excited now. I’ve told him a few things that I always loved about going to that area, and I think that has made a difference.  Like how the drive to the beach was always an adventure, and how a bus ride to New York was such a treat, or how the subs aren’t like chain restaurants, but authentic and oily and delicious. But, to be honest, it was probably how when I told him about my visit a few weeks ago, there were golfers out already. I practically watched as his eyes glazed over in delight.
But the important part is that we will be there together. Ben and I had originally thought that we could spend that first year apart. I hate spending 48 hours away from him when our schedules don’t align.
So we now have a better plan: our current house goes up for sale in May. Before then, we have to totally redo the spare bathroom, repaint the upstairs bedroom and finish the windows in the downstairs bedroom which will also need a good painting. Bright green is not a good look for us.
This is going to be an adventure. And its going to be hectic. But we’re going to do it the way we want and its going to be worth it to keep our little family together.
